So there we are, the Doctor Who stamps, which will be issued in March, have been revealed! It is a set of eleven first class stamps, each featuring a doctor, from William Hartnell, who was the first doctor in 1963, to Matt Smith, who is the current doctor.

Nice! The only Dr. Who I ever really looked at (and even then...) was Tom Baker because I was living in England during his run...

Of course, this also meant I spent a lot of time running around the house Dalek-like screaming "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!" cheeky

Which is Dr Who number four, for those who might not know (though I expect there won't be many of them).

I can just see you do that, Carmen! And I wouldn't be surprised if you still do every now and then!

I quite like Dr number six with his question marks on his collar. Nice touch! And great psychedelic stamp design!

I understand there's also a miniature sheet accompanying the set of 11 stamps. This miniature sheet will contain four second class stamps, featuring enemies and a fifth, first class, stamp, depicting the Tardis. You can find a tiny, tiny pic on the Royal Mail website here (bottom of the page).

I am surprised that they missed out a Dr Who which would have made it a set of 12. AND a MS!!! Might have been better if say a set of second class stamps. How about EXTERMINATING the marketing people at RM to limit the size and cost of sets?

Who is the missing Doctor?

.....................................................Peter Cushing who starred in a couple of films.

Don't give them any ideas, John! They might well come up with an extra Machin booklet of six with two Cushing stamps! Or six more post and gos with Cushing portraits!

I've a feeling there's some (intellectual property) rights thing with Cushing, off the top of my head. No doubt a dedicated Whovian could tell us.

There ARE going to be Smilers.

The issue has been a publicity bonanza for Royal Mail. The press release was issued on Dec 26, neatly hitting that 'Lumme, what are we going to put in the newspaper?' bit between Christmas and New Year.

Pretty much every other email I had over the Christmas period (between the SEO spam and a very nice offer from a chap in the Bills & Exchange dept of a bank in Ouagadougou) was a notification of a newspaper/website story on the Doctor Who stamps.

Here's the story I wrote on the Doctor Who stamps.

There is going to be A LOT of product: http://www.stampmagazine.co.uk/news/article/doctor-who-stamps-feature-the-doctor's-11-incarnations/14212
