A first look at the Memories MS that comes out on September 27.

DELIGHTED that the Gamesmakers got one.

Suppose that's the closest I'll ever come to getting a stamp.

I like these a lot and will definitely be buying them to close up the section in my GB 2012 album which holds all the London 2012 issues.

Oh hunny, don't you know that's how it all starts...?

"Well... maybe I'll just get this one..."

"Hmmm... well... okay... I'll collect the GB Olympic stamps."

"Well...okay... I'll just collect Olympic stamps."

"EVERYBODY SEND ME YOUR STAMPS! ALL YOUR STAMPS! ANY STAMP WILL DO!"

cool

I meant 'this is as close as I'll come to being honoured on a stamp'.

I'm metaphorically on this one, seeing as I have a very similar uniform and worked blooming hard on the Games! (I know I'm not actually on it, because I was never in the Olympic Park in uniform).

I'd be interested in knowing people who aren't incredibly biased's views on the sheet. Design-wise? Right 'memories' honoured?

Ye Ed and I were talking about this stamp at a meeting yesterday, and we disagree entirely on which stamps are successful!

He likes the fireworks ones, whereas I prefer the ones with people in them. I do think the Gamesmaker one could be more exciting, but it's that recognisable-people thing again.

I also realised that there's an (extra) potential market of 70,000 (number of Gamesmakers) plus family.

Posters on the underground are thanking the various companies associated with the Olympics and Paralympics. No mention of the Gamesmakers or the Armed Forces who did such a sterling job at making both such a success. Thanks!

An absolute pleasure, John!

Now that the issue has gone to press, I've been able to upload our take on the Memories of London sheet here.

Ooh, you're rather harsh on this one! Though I must admit I do agree with most of the observations.

Commemorative worth: the games have been over and done with for a while now so it's a bit too much of a good thing to come up with this MS I think. One star (presuming we can't give zero).

Quality of design: not having seen the real thing it's hard to say, I suppose, but it's not un-nice, so I would give it a bit more than one star, probably two or if it's nicer in real life three stars.

Wow factor: the Gold Medal stamps were the wow factor of these games, and this MS certainly won't top that, so one star from me.

Hope others will be a bit more favourable!

I do need to point out this was always a planned issue, not RM riding the bandwagon.

That's true and it was probably in too far advanced a stage to call a halt to it, once they'd started on the deluge of gold medal stamps. And it is sort of okay as a tail-end issue anyway.
