Hi all,

We're going to keep track of how well the Olympic gold medals stamps will be distributed. So, if you're intending to buy them or you happen to be in the PO on the day after a medal, please let me know:

-whether they were available by noon (if you're there in time)

-whether staff would cut off a single for you

(No expenses, I'm afraid!).

Information from later in the week or from the post offices which aren't getting the stamps immediately will also be useful.

Just send me an email with the name of the PO branch (nice and specific, please!) and details. I'm julia.lee@myhobbystore.com

Thank you!

My first question would be why ?

and the answers to the the questions are Yes and No.

I would be more intestested in the printers information and any variations not a non-story on distribution times..

After all we are all philatelists aren't we?

Because we want to see if Royal Mail CAN complete one of the most interesting and risky things it's done for a while.

And RM has claimed staff will cut off singles for people - so that's worth tracking.

And we'll try to get all the printing info and varieties in as well!

Yup... since this company provides a service to the public, I see nothing wrong with looking to see if they can deliver or not. And if they can, more power to them.

All go in Croydon, plenty of sheets, MSs, covers at just gone noon. When I asked about individual stamps, they told me I could peel them off... I didn't press the point about cutting one out.

Someone on our FB page has commented that they are due tomorrow, thanks to 'logistics problems'. As I know the chap, I think it's probably one of the Hertfordshire offices. Anyone else in that area having similar problems?

Re: printers, mine says 'London', and the bottom MS has a perfed selvedge containing the printers' imprint. No need to buy a full A4 press sheet!

This is the 'C' mentioned on www.goldmedalsstamps.com's rundown of post offices by printer.

Haywards Heath had them by lunchtime, but wouldn't cut them out.

We're hearing London, Solihull, Attleborough and Preston for printers - anyone fill in the other two?

Birmingham Head Post Office,Victoria Square, sold the stamps before midday - I obtained them at about 11.55 am. No-one else seemed to be buying any at that time and the counter assistant separated the sheets while I waited. I asked her about buying individual stamps but she told me that they could only be sold as a complete miniature sheet of 6. Not surprisingly, the printer was "Solihull".

Thanks Graham. I think Croydon did, too - I was there at 12.10 or so.
