I have been bulking out my older collection.

I am keeping them in Stock albums, but they are not ideal for displaying the stamps, some overlap (especially portrait ones), different sizes of stamps and sets and its difficult to neatly label up the dates and titles of the sets.

I am thinking of a large ring binder with black card pages with the stamp mounts stuck in and a white pen or pencil to title the sets and all nicely spaced.

Does anyone else do this as I can find no examples when googling, do you all just keep them in stock books?

I do keep my stamps in Lighthouse black paged stock books. The only items I generally write up these days are my postal covers.

However, your idea is good and, in fact, was quite common in the past. I have had a few vintage philatelic books from the 1950s / 60s which showed pages laid out just as you describe.

There are a few companies that supply both good quality large philatelic ring binders and black pages to fit them. The ones I use are German Lighthouse produced ones but there are other styles and makes.

Just check any black card you use is acid-free and colour-fast. I would always use white for personal preference, but that's just me - each to their own!

An alternative to writing up pages by hand would be to use a computer program.

Word, Excel and PowerPoint, or the similar but free LibreOffice applications are all popular choices. Alternatively, one could use a dedicated stamp album application such as AlbumEasy which is also free.
