Hi all,

I think that this is my first post here, so hello everyone!

I returned to the hobby of stamp-collecting last year after a (far too) long absence.

After much indecision about what to collect, I seem to have developed somewhat of a passion for engraved stamps. So I am starting a collection of engraved stamps (though I doubt that I will ever manage to get them all), and designing/printing my own pages accordingly.

But I have a couple of questions, if you could help:

1.I had been using the website 'engravedstamps.net' which has a wealth of information about various engravers, and their issues. But sadly, just recently, it has been inaccessible. Anyone know why ? Are there any other websites that I should visit ?

2. I know that there are societies for various specialisms, such as postal history, perfins, thematics, etc. But is there a society for those interested in engraved stamps, and their engravers/designers ?

3. Are there any good (and affordable) books on engraved stamps ?

Sorry to introduce myself with a load of questions, but I tend to be a 'lurker' (in the nicest possible sense).

Regards,

Phil

Welcome to the fora, Phil, although I personally can't help you with your questions. But I'm sure someone will be along eventually. Of course, one thing you can do is search these fora themselves as I do know there have been threads about engravers and engraving so that will probably give you something do...

Have fun! laugh

It appears that there is something wrong with the main page of the engravedstamps.net site.

If you do a google search for engravedstamps.net the first result will be to www.engravedstamps.net, but rather than click on that, click on the little inverted triangle to the right which will allow you to choose "cached" to bring up an earlier version of the site.

Search and links to other pages of the site are fully functional, so it appears that the problem is only with the first page. there is a "Contact Me" link on the bottom of the page, you may want to use it to contact the owner in case he/she is unaware of the problem.

Thanks for the welcome, Carmen.

@Clivel - that was most helpful, it did indeed work. Now why didn't I think of that! dont know

And many thanks for the link to AlbumEasy - I didn't think that there was any software for album pages that would run on Linux - I have been using LibreOffice to produce template pages. I will give AlbumEasy a try.

Regards,

Phil
