India 1948 rarity sold for record £500,000
A rare multiple from India’s 1948 set of official stamps has been sold by Stanley Gibbons by private treaty for a record £500,000.

Interesting item and just imagining having one of those in your fathers collection, or a set even of all values? Cuts the odds down though four been sold of 50 and it does cross my mind how true this is, if they were going to be used why was there only 2 sheets of 50 over printed and one of which is in a museum, so it sort of says the intention to use was not realistic. I am assuming these hare not high values at the time???? Hope the full story gives more insight anyway.
