Propaganda for Palestine

Some of the least subtle but most powerful propaganda stamps and covers in philatelic history have drawn attention to the plight of the stateless Palestinians

In countries where the postal authority is part of the government, or heavily influenced by the government, stamps are among the most accurate indicators of the social and political agendas which the regime wishes to pursue. In short, they are propaganda tools.

Much of this propaganda can be quite subtle, emphasising a nation’s historical grandeur, natural beauty or economic development. Occasionally, however, themes become rather more serious, and contentious, especially where they stray into geopolitics.

Rarely has philatelic propaganda been more pronounced and more political than in the case of stamp issues concerned with Palestine.
