Two gold medal stamps were issued on Thursday, August 2, after the rowing women's pair, Helen Glover and Heather Stanning, and time trialist Bradley Wiggins struck gold for Great Britain.

The stamps were available at 518 post offices across the country. (Click here for list of post offices). Online orders were also being taken.

Glover and Stanning were also presented with a large mock-up of their stamp live on the BBC by Gary Lineker

Stanning said: 'Granddad is going to love that. He collects stamps.'

A clearly-delighted Glover said: 'Thank you so much. That's amazing.'

The bottom miniature sheet in the A4 press sheets of four bears the printers imprint in a perforated selvedge, so a full press sheet is not necessary for the imprint.

Royal Mail also painted postboxes gold in the athletes' home towns of Lossiemouth (where the painters got lost), Penzance and Chorley, to mark the wins.
