Folk customs and traditions make only rare appearances on Britain’s stamps, but generate some attractive and eye-opening designs when they do
Every nation has its own cultural traditions. Indeed, they are among the essential idiosyncracies that define it as a nation. The weird and wonderful world of folk customs is therefore a window on eccentricity.
Most of them are centuries old, with their origins so shrouded in the mists of time that we barely understand them any more, even if we still indulge in them.
