Help needed

Has anyone ever created a Special cover, to commemorate a special event etc; not for first day issue stamps.

I would like to commemorate a special event occuring in April, I can do the design on envelope, How do I go about getting a postmark or cancel for the day from a location. In this case it would be from Doncaster UK on Wednesday April 6th.

All help would be extremely grateful.

Hi Kevin, I'm a member of Edinburgh Philatelic Society and although I haven't personally designed a cover, I believe that a couple of members of the Society have. They have also designed Special Postmarks as well which were subsequently used by Royal Mail. I've seen submitted artwork for postmarks & proof impressions in colours which were never used postally. It could be worth contacting the Secretary of Edinburgh Philatelic Society.
