LONDON 2010

Alongside the London 2010 international stamp exhibition, at the Business Design Centre in Islington, a Festival of Stamps will comprise a range of exhibitions and events in London and around the UK, to appeal to dedicated philatelists and non-collectors alike. These are the highlights:

GUILDHALL ART GALLERY, LONDON
(May 7-July 25)
Exhibition exploring the reign of King George V, focusing on his enthusiasm as a
collector and Post Office innovations during his reign, including material from the British Postal Museum & Archive and the Royal Philatelic Collection.

BRITISH LIBRARY, LONDON
(January 1-December 31)
Exhibition of rarities from the Library's Philatelic Collections in 1,000 frames, including significant and scarce material not currently on display, plus a programme of educational talks.

BRITISH MUSEUM, LONDON
(April 1-November 14)
Exhibition of coins, banknotes, medals, stamps and seals celebrating the cultures and heritage of Africa, to mark 17 African countries' celebrations of their 50th anniversary of independence.

BRITISH POSTAL MUSEUM & ARCHIVE, LONDON
(from May)
Exhibition of treasures from the archive, in the BPMA Search Room at Mount Pleasant in Clerkenwell.
ROYAL PHILATELIC SOCIETY, LONDON
(May 6-7)
Exhibition by Royal Philatelic Societies from around the world, including those of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, with related talks.

PHILATEX EXTRA, LONDON
(May 5-6)
An extra staging of the popular twice-yearly stamp fair at the Royal Horticultural Halls.

LORD'S CRICKET GROUND, LONDON

Thematic display of stamps and postal history within the MCC Museum at the home of world cricket.

WIMBLEDON LAWN TENNIS MUSEUM, LONDON
(dates to be confirmed)
Thematic display of stamps and postal history within the museum at the home of the Wimbledon Championships.

MUSEUM OF WORLD RUGBY, TWICKENHAM

Thematic display of stamps and postal history within the museum at Twickenham Stadium.

COLNE VALLEY POSTAL HISTORY MUSEUM, HALSTEAD
(May 29, July 10, September 11-12)
Exhibition on the development of the postal service during the reign of King George V, at a small museum in Essex.

BLETCHLEY PARK, MILTON KEYNES
(dates to be confirmed)
Thematic displays at the National Codes & Cipher Centre, the site of Britain's legendary code-breaking operations in World War II.

BATH POSTAL MUSEUM, BATH
(February 1-October 30)
Exhibition on the reign of King George V, including stamps and postal stationery issued for the 1924-25 Wembley Exhibition and the growth of commercial advertising on envelopes

CREWE HERITAGE CENTRE, CREWE
(June to October)
Exhibition of railway related philately, including a travelling post office, put on in conjunction with the North West Federation of the ABPS.

NATIONAL FOOTBALL MUSEUM, PRESTON
(spring and summer)
Thematic display forming part of the Museum's celebration of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, put on in conjunction with the North West Federation of the ABPS.

ABERDEEN MARITIME MUSEUM, ABERDEEN
(July 18-November 14)
Exhibition of maritime philately and other activities to mark the centenary of the Aberdeen Philatelic Society.
